Hello, all! I promised at the last two shows that we would get Love Songs for Twins posted to the website due to my difficulty keeping up with making copies and tucking them in their little organic sandwich pouches. The challenge, the trick, is that my main way of posting the album is not just posting it. It involves the delicate work buttering up Roger until he is willing to use his technological prowess to set up the downloads. As you can imagine, this is a more complicated task. If you find the songs online, then, favors have been exchanged and everyone is satisfied. Or, you know, I’ve rolled up my sleeves and done some learning. In all likelihood Love Songs will be available here quite soon. Thank you for stopping! Happy new year!

A Warm Winter

We’re enjoying a warm winter here in Georgia. We’re sticking close to the home front this winter, playing shows at Flicker and Hendershots in Athens and the brewing company in Atlanta. We even played in Lexington near our house at Oglethorpe Fresh, which was a special community treat.

The dancers are still a’dancing at our shows, the lords are still a’leaping (Johnny and Roger are the lords) and we’re ringing in the holidays. Come celebrate with us soon.

This has been a lovely whirlwind of a fall. We released Love Songs for Twins and got much appreciative feedback (and some ambivalent feedback from a Flagpole reviewer who did not like the ‘love songs’ element). We’ve been playing and playing, Johnny with an injured shoulder still rocking the beats, Roger getting more and more enthusiastic and richly expressive on the cello. The president and vice president of the fan club have been coming out and bringing a whole crew of dancing folks, which makes the live shows especially lively. I’ve been meeting with a songwriters’ group that offers support, shame management, song ideas, and such, and my part of the shows has gotten especially shameless. So, come on out.

I hope we get to see you soon. We’re sticking southward until winter blows over. Can you blame us?

Album Release Show

Now that we’re waited out the summer, we’re going to do our album release in Athens just in time for the town to start picking up again as the university gets back in session. Keep an eye out for the review of the album in Flagpole (flagpole.com) in the next couple of weeks. It’s coming. We hope they like it.

Slow Southern Summer

We are in the process of enjoying a slow Southern summer [see title]. For the past year, we’ve been playing a ton, and this summer, well, we’re going to weddings, therapy trainings, swingers parties [Johnny], the pool [Roger], swingers pools [Roger and Johnny together], etc. Thank you for your patience. And we miss you.

That said, you can come see us, you know, Midwest. We have a guest room with relatively few scorpions in it. Also, a “sauna-like” environment, which, as you can imagine, is quite luxurious.

Welcome

Let’s see, so I paused my posts, and why, you know? There’s no excuse for it. Also, there is: we finished the album and are working on the physical manifestation of it after having first distributed it digitally to our mailing list. And other excuses. Good ones, and less good.

If you want a physical copy of Love Songs for Twins, e-mail me from this site and I will send you one and you can send me a check for $10 per copy. While supplies last, as they say, because we’re making these ones by hand and packaging them in reusable cotton sandwich sacks because it turns out that a lot of people don’t really use compact discs any more but instead use “clouds” or “streams.” It also turns out that some resources are not entirely renewable or reusable, and we don’t want to fill landfills with plastic.

We’re in the process of booking late summer and fall, and I am setting the intention to come to the Midwest quite soon and to play a bunch of shows although the details of this are being worked out. We’ve got it really luxurious-like here in the South, but I also miss you, friends in Wisconsin and South Dakota and Iowa and yes even Ohio and Illinois and Pennsylvania as you too are in the Midwestern part of my heart.

Final song

As we speak, the final song in Love Songs for Twins is being mastered. If you’re on the mailing list, you’ve already heard the whole thing. If not, the album will be available within a month, in both physical form and downloadable form.

We are playing a memorial celebration on April 21st for our late friend Charlie King aka Charles Harvey, who played with the band for two years and whose bass and cello arrangements are featured on our last album, Land!. Love Songs for Twins

Hello! Happy February to you!

It has been a long and bumpy road to Love Songs for Twins, but it’s finally getting ready, and we’re trying something new. Rather than print discs and sell them at shows (although we will get it to CDBaby and iTunes), we want to release the album one song at a time to our mailing list. That way, I add little flourishes until the time comes to let the song go…and then I let it go, and it makes its way electronically to you.

So, sign up on the mailing list, and you’ll get an e-mail with a new song every week for 8 weeks starting on Valentine’s Day.

You don’t have to be a twin, by the way, to enjoy it. Just twin-like, deeply connected to other beings. That’s all it takes.
